Indoor greenery trends for 2025
In 2025 indoor landscaping leans towards sustainability, technology and wellbeing: more large plants, vertical gardens, sustainable planters and Japandi style.

Indoor greenery is expected to focus more on sustainability, technology and emotional wellbeing. This year planting design keeps blurring the line between architecture, design and sustainability. The focus is on functional, beautiful, health-supporting spaces that combine nature, technology and creativity. Whether it is low-maintenance plants, wellness gardens or green breakout areas indoors, the trend is the same: strengthening our connection with nature, together with responsibility for the environment.
Biophilic design
Natural elements keep making their way into contemporary interiors. That means not only house plants but also green walls, natural materials and organic shapes. Large statement plants are firmly back: ficus, monstera, palms and big cacti now anchor a room.
People increasingly choose plants that are useful as well as beautiful, such as air-purifying species (sansevieria, ZZ plant) or edible ones (herbs, citrus trees). Vertical gardens and green partitions are especially relevant in smaller spaces and offices with no room for traditional pots.
Sustainability and technology
Recycled or natural planters made of clay, recycled plastic or even eco-concrete are gaining ground, as is interest in plant-care tech: smart pots, moisture sensors and automatic irrigation. With climate change, more attention goes to plants that need less water, such as succulents, cacti and some grasses.
Eastern aesthetics
Japandi and wabi-sabi are especially strong: minimalist Japanese-Scandinavian design dominated by subtle, asymmetric plants such as bonsai or delicate branches.
